How can spirits seem to have weight or influence solid objects when they have no physical form?

I have asked this question for many years and decided to get a collective response by asking a few people who have been studying occult/esoteric sciences , that are spirit sensitives and all seekers of truth. So I will share my friends words on this subject then share mine at the end. Any comments please send to our email and if you have something to add here I will be happy to add it.

I think our consciousness has much more control over our physical form then we imagine. We know placebo is a thing and we can achieve results by just thinking. Now as for creating a tumor, i would assume this would be constrained to the physical form a consciousness was anchored to. Buy, i saw something recently where brain cells in a lab started to form eyes to perceive the reality around it.If matter is manifested from consciousness, is it consciousness. If everything is consciousness, everything is conscious on a certain level. So the deconstruction of matter to find it's source, is the search for the pure consciousness from which everything is formed. Neoplatonic metaphysics links every layer of our reality, with everything influencing everything within it's designated hierarchy. I tend to believe this concept. Kabbalah essentially does the same thing. Once you understand everything is literally everything else, weird seems less weird, or maybe just as weird, but also explainable on some level. Magic itself essentially works through a series of complex correspondences, because of this idea that everything is fundamentally linked. Chaos magic attempts to hack reality via individual consciousness into the collective consciousness. I believe entities require a physical anchor in this reality to manipulate it. This is how demonology basically works. That's how a lot of curse magic works ...by convincing someone they are cursed and their own mind does the rest. As we separate spirit from matter now, we have in many cases lost our direct link to nature, to out ability to control the way our reality is built. Except the parameters already set without testing them further.

Its a two fold answer.. With a residual viewing you can hear sound as well, so you could hear sounds of creeking floor boards from a person who walked over them while they were alive which could have been 100 years ago.. of course it depends on if the atmospheric conditions are right so we can hear the sounds which are continually rebounding around on the etheric .. Presure on a bed is like the same sort of energy output when a spirit is able to push an item over, push a person, or move something, spirit is energy.. wind is energy but we dont see it, electricity we dont see , magnets can push energy outward or attract.. the spirits aura if strong enough can do all of the above. We have both seen these things many times and its easiest to explain these things as spirit having energy form, and energy can cause all sorts of pressure on certain things .. Like when you ask spirit to push a ball and they slightly move the ball if they only have a minor bit of energy. If they have a lot.. Ive seen a crow bar thrown.. When people say they are choked by spirit, its their energy placing pressure on a persons throat.. The bed thing is often a strong energy of a spirit that is pushing down and creating the depression.. So a spirit doesnt have mass as such, but if we think of physics there are a number of mass less energy forms that can cause pressure.. like helium in a balloon if that all makes sence ??

If a spirit has enough energy and has been around long enough to learn a few trick it can make floor board squeak and you can feel a mass sitting on a bed or lounge ... a number of the spirits connected to my dolls you can hear moving around on the floor here at night and my daughter in spirit often sit on the end of the bed as do a few others in our house ... It also depend on if the person 5he spirit is trying connact is open to spiritual contact

I have one of the spirit connected to my dolls that interfere with the TV others set of cat balls and one will set of cat ball an a k2 ... I have another house spirit that turns the kettle on when I'm think of making a cup of tea other make the land line phone ring and many more the plates and cups around in the kitchen... So its possible... hope that helps To put it simple spirit are electricity.... different voltages of electricity have different forces.... It's like if you rub you feet on the carpet and the touch someone you get a shock ... the more charge the bigger the effect on the earth realm. So spirit learn to manipulate there aura ( electricity) more than other to give a bigger impression. The living have the same ability I can manipulate a candle flame with my aura. Mediums use aura manipulation as protection

You are talking of some form of fields that are interpreted by our brain and then forms a subjective reality based on the interaction of our brain to these magnetic fields. The real reality is that we merge into a magnetic field. All these unseen different forces we do not know actually how they work. Like gravity we know its there but we still do not 100 percent know how it works and even less we know about Consciousness. The brain is a connection like when you connect the computer to the internet. A troubled person that lives in a house can move objects unconsciously when under a lot of stress. When you are in this mode your brain can extend so much forces that can move objects. We all have a individual signature in the electro magnetic field. There is no separation only our brain create this separation

Everything that we see is because of light reflecting from the wavelength vibration emitted from atoms whilst these atoms bounce off each other. The spaces in between the atoms are more vast than the actual diameter of the atom. So it is the spaces that create all things. The 3 states of matter are based on the distances in between atoms( liquid, solid and gas). The room you are in is called a room, not because of the walls, but of the windows and doors. "Its the spaces that create all things".

Why am I talking of this ?

This space consist of intelligence that keeps laws and principles in place . There is order with in the space. This space lets call "Consciousness" or even "Spirit".

In quantum physics the theory of entanglement will have particles that shared the same space then removed from each other by some distance and then a magnetic force is introduced to one of the particle, this magnetic force will cause a rippling effect to the other particles that will change the polarity of all particles to change in sync and not waiver.

It is my feeling that consciousness can indeed interact with atoms by manipulating the space in between what we see as a solid. Now lets call this space "The Matrix" . A residue haunting has left a in print on the locality proximity and caused a glitch with in the matrix of that area. Sometimes this glitch creates a tear in between the physical, astral and spiritual realm, it will appear to be happening in the time space experienced of the observer as a present event. This incident can move objects that were not originally in that location when the time of the matrix imprinting took place. Sounds from the event can be heard even apparitions from what were present in flesh but are long gone now in body.

So objects and structures can be effected by a re occurring loop from the past that was so powerful and effecting that it left a scar in time and the location. This scar can happen due to ritual and certain practices as well. Everything that is, has a Vibration, frequency and a energy signature. Its either a wavelength or particle.

Fire is a interesting energy as it exist on all dimensions and it is said that it can carry our hearts intention to send messages to other realms. So consciousness can use a proxy to send its message out into the matrix "the Aether". Symbols, Sigil are this proxy as well. We light a candle to send a wish or a prayer.

Its a fascinating subject and not so easily summed up into words but I enjoy thinking on such topics and in my 30 years of study, I have looked into universal belief systems and theories and the more one looks and lives, hopefully they can see patterns and weave common threads of knowledge and research together from around the world to break down cultural and traditional beliefs ,to see the truth and false hood that clouds it as well.

A intelligent Spirit can make the bed feel like its been pushed down by weight due to its consciousness and intention interacting with the spaces in between the atoms. This interaction of atoms and space draws the spirits own energy and can drain it but it can replenish what was lost from the emotional state and energy release from the observer. FEAR creates a energy field that some spirits leech and manipulate from us. Water can be imprinted by frequencies and this can be physically seen and the vibration of water is changed until another vibration is put into it.

It is my understanding as well that Spirits can effect biology causing sickness and mutating cells and in some cases tumors can grow and some tumors even grow eyes, teeth and some features that are very bizarre. Maybe this is how some cases of miracles have happened when a divine spirit has reversed some process of spiritual attack by elevating all states of the victim and in turn lower states are dissolved. In Chinese medicine there is a saying that" first you must treat the spirit"

In conclusion. It is my firm understanding of the esoteric, etheric and sciences of the heart ,mind and spirit than matter of all states can be interacted by consciousness. The ancients merged science and spirit together in there practices and they built structures that resonated energy vibration and frequencies not by chance but by a complete refined art of wisdom of the mechanics of the universe and us that dwell as a synthesis of the sky and underneath.

To try and Answer this question, I believe we have to start with some basic laws of Physics.

Everything is made of atoms, and the periodic table was designed to show this in a way that could be readily understood, by listing atomic weight of elements.

The great Physicist Albert Einstein even did the math to prove that Ghosts exist. He postulated that since matter consists of energy. And, energy does not die, but merely transforms into different states. Then the energy released from the human body at death, must transform into an alternative state of existence. In the 1960’s both Russian and American researchers dedicated a great deal of time to measuring the change in weight of terminally ill humans. Having them on the most sensitive scales science could provide at that time, and recording the results. The conclusion was that there was a fluctuation of between 250 and 500grams in the known weight of the subject at the moment of death. The Russians concluded that this meant that a soul had a weight of between 250 and 500 grams.

Spirits, like everything else, have to conform to certain laws of Physics. A spirit cannot, for example pass through a wall of a building that existed during the period of that spirits physical body. They have to access rooms and corridors then same way the living do, through the door. Any spirit that is witnessed passing through the walls of a castle or stately home, or other structure is only able to do so, because there have been structural changes to the building – the door has been moved and the original bricked up.

I came across one shining example of this in the early days of my growing fascination with hauntings, and that was in England, where I was born, raised and educated.

The subject the spectre of a monk, whom was reported quiet often moving through the upper floor of what had been a monastic establishment. The most notable feature of this full body apparition was that the floor upon which he walked was passing through his habit between the ankle and the knee. His feet was not seen on that floor. However, when the viewer went down to the lower level and looked up, there were the monk’s feet and sandals walking in mid-air just beneath the ceiling. This fascinating state was created when the level of the flooring on the upper level of the building was raised during renovations.

For a long time Poltergeists were said to throw things around, the name, so aptly meaning Noisy Ghost, In fact over the years researchers have come to realise that Poltergeists rarely if ever throw things, but rather physically connect with an item like a heavy piano and move it towards the viewer at alarming sped yet miss them by inches. Not something that can be achieved if the object is thrown. One of my colleague at the Society for Psychical Research in London specialises in a narrow band of haunting phenomena that include Poltergeists and Fire starting DJINN, and spends a great deal of time travelling the world to investigate the phenomenon.

Ghosts, seem to be able to interact with their environment in some interesting ways. I think one reason they might choose to produce footsteps or create a clear outline on a bed or in a chair, is an attempt to interact with the living, without generating a fear reaction in the viewer. My team has also found that there are some ghosts that are able to mimic our voices during investigations. Others, such as I encountered during a rare investigation of what might be described as a “family of ghosts” in a business local o where I live.

The male and female spirits had been married during their mortal existence. He a specialist stone mason and Undertaker, she his partner in the business. The two children were a male and female, that had fallen victim to a scarlet fever outbreak in the area. The little boy was very reserved and refused to interact much at all. The little girl was very outgoing and it was not long before I picked her up on film. She was a powerful spirit, and not only able to appear on film, but cause items such as an old time torch to appear with her. As I got to know her she would come forward and tug my trouser leg just like a small living child might do to attract attention. She also interacted with her surroundings causing tea towels and so forth on airing racks to move in front of staff.

The Undertaker and his wife, whose name was McMurtrie, were also able to interact with their surroundings and the living animals that were present as well as the staff. Mrs McMurtrie was able to appear as a full body apparition complete with the sound of tapping on her shoes on the tiled floor. She appeared twice to one member of the staff, and also set off security alarms. She and her Husband were nearly always together when picked up by my various cameras, both wired, wireless and programmable types using different wavelengths of IR illumination. They were happy and often joined by several other spirits at various times. At the end of many months of investigation Mr McMurtrie, and I, in the company of a member of the staff, interacted in a very special way. He first shook hands with the staff member Corrine, and then with me.

His hand was cold, and gave a tingling sensation through my fingers as our hands met. I mention this as yet another example of altered states interacting together. Although ghosts are aware of and interact with their surroundings and are fully aware of us. – We often ask in EVP’s if they can see us,, and the answer is invariably – Yes. They are aware of what is happening in our time and their own, being able to tell us what life was like for them. One female spirit at one of our favourite cemeteries demonstrated this wonderfully, we had left the recorders running, and as she followed us to my car, she said, “I would have given anything to have a Motor like that when I was alive.” They follow us for coffee, come driving with us in the car. As well as go out on the trains and enjoy a nice day out.

It was a very special moment for Corrine and I and it must have been an interesting experience for the Undertaker too because he then interacted with one of the dogs present in the room.

Ghosts, appear to be able to extract energy, from living subjects, and the fastest way is to appear in a manner that garners a fear or fright response in the viewer, producing large amounts of nervous energy. They can interact with their environment causing both hot and cold spots. As demonstrated by a programmable camera I left in the Kate Kelly room of the museum, although it was summer, the museum is always cool, yet the camera recorded steadily increasing temp peaking around midnight at a temp much higher than any of the other rooms in the building.

It is not only the spirits of people that are capable of interacting and influencing their environment. Aside from the two human ghosts that inhabit my cottage, I have two animal ghosts. Both cats and former beloved pets. One, Semi will not only move through the cottage, but enjoys a good game of chase with my living cats. He will dive from room to room, only to disappear and leave his pursuers confused, and looking anxiously around the room for their quarry. Then suddenly, out of nowhere show his tail slipping round a door and the chase recommences. Squid is more laid back and come in at night I cm feel his weight pressing on the bed as he curls up quietly in the same spot he loved during life.

Probably one of the best examples of a spirit presenting a physical being, is the case of the great social reformer Jeremy Bentham, whom has been witnessed walking around the Quad of University College London and seen from several different positions at the same time. Bentham appears not only solid and in colour, but has been known to interact with students, reminding them of the time. Bentham’s body was preserved after his death and dressed in his favourite suit. He was seated behind the desk he used in life holding his favourite Cane called Dapple in his hand, in a recreation of his office displayed at the University.

His Body was removed in the 1970’s after caretakers noted some deterioration starting around the ears. His presence, and the tap, tap, tap of Dapple on the stone paving is still heard and felt around the campus at various times. In the case of Jeremy Bentham, the energy required to manifest in such a manner would be quite large, but the cumulative expression of nervous and psychic energy given out by a large volume of witnesses, added to the Electro-magnetic energy generated by the wiring looms and copper water pipe infrastructure of the buildings is likely a huge part of this manifestation.

I don’t suppose we could discuss a subject of this sort without including the Tower of London. It is, I understand the only military deployment in the whole of the UK, where a soldier is unlikely to be courts martialled for deserting his post.

There are a large volume or phantoms here, all of which display the very behaviour couched in your original question. Such as the Bear, tormented by vicious dogs, and finally killed during a bear batting hundreds of years before, that appeared suddenly behind a sentry near the foot of one of the towers. He was so terrified he dropped his weapon and ran. The bear no doubt achieving a healthy dose of energy and mass.

Or the case of the Soldier on duty close to the church of St Peter Ad vincula, within the walls of the tower and the final resting place of most, if not all those that lost their heads during the time of Henry 8, such as Anne Boleyne. He also witnessed something that made him flee his assigned post.

When interviewed by his C.O, he said that as he stood guard, he became aware of music within the church, as well as movement and lights. He said he moved closer and peeped through the window. Becoming more visibly unsettled he told of seeing the church full of people in Tudor style clothing watching a ceremonial procession of lords and ladies (including Anne) moving down the main isle towards the alter. He said that no one in the procession had a head. The detail of clothing and style of music and the other activities, he was able to give left very little doubt that he had in fact witnessed an event. An event which not only had the energy to manifest the gathering of people within the church. But the clothes and jewellery worn and the music, witnessed by the young soldier.

There are several other cases from the tower, and the last prisoners lodged there were the Kray twins, Ronnie and Reggie, in cells on opposite sides of the clock tower. Whether they saw or heard anything or whether they themselves have become a part of the haunting history of the tower is not known. There are so many examples of ghosts manipulating and interacting with their environment, and witnesses- be that a house, churchyard or cemetery or city street. Or, as in the case of the great actor manager of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. William Terris Haunts a busy London underground station as well as the theatre, and is often seen by several witnesses.

As demonstrated by the examples above. It is clear that Ghosts are a form of electro-magnetic energy, which has a quantifiable mass and substance, that can recharge itself as needed, from natural events such as weather, or man-made infrastructure power lines, microwave energy from cell phone and digital communications towers, commercial, military aircraft and radar, copper wire, TV and commercial radio broadcast transmitters, or interactions with the living.
